Nose

The nose is a part of the face that absorbs olfactory information and transmits it to the brain. Most animals possess noses, which usually consist of two nostrils and several sinuses. The nose is used in the process of smelling surroundings.

The human nose contains many short, coarse hairs. These are known as nose hair. Visible nose hair is considered unsightly in many cultures, including mainstream western culture, and significant sums are spent each year on nose hair removal products in the United States and western Europe. Nose hair is particularly prevalent in older men, in whom it generally becomes longer, bushier and sometimes grayer, much like the ear hair and eyebrows.
