Rabbi of Mülhausen, Alsace; died June, 1870. He was one of the earliest pupils of the rabbinical school of Metz, having been among the first matriculates. An excellent Hebraist and preacher, he was ambitious to become a chief rabbi. He did not succeed, however, and felt his disappointment keenly. He published several works, contributed to "L'Univers lsraélite," and founded a monthly, "Le Lien," which was not successful, and was soon discontinued.
