Show Low is a town in east central Arizona.
The town's unusual name, according to legend, came as the result of a business settlement between two owners of a ranch. Realizing that the ranch was too small for their business, they agreed to settle ownership of the ranch by the winner of a poker game (as opposed to a gunfight).
With no end to the game in sight, one partner told the other he could win if he were to "show low" (show a lower card than the other). In response the other partner showed the deuce of clubs (the lowest possible card in a deck) and won. The town pays homage to the legend by naming its main thoroughfare Deuce of Clubs.
