Katerina Andreou is a British–Greek Cypriot entrepreneur, psychologist, child protection specialist and writer who lives in Nicosia, Cyprus and founded HR Innovate, a human resource and recruiting agency in Cyprus.[1]
Andreou was born in Nairobi, Kenya and grew up in the Middle East, including Bahrain and Beirut. She studied Occupational Psychology in the United Kingdom specializing in families and children for over 10 years.[2] She is registered with the British Psychological Society[3] and the Cyprus Human Resource Authority.[4] She moved to Cyprus in 2006 from London, England.
Andreou attended the European University of Cyprus until 1996 where she was the chief editor of the student newspaper, The Observer.[5] Afterwards she received a BSc in with honors in Psychology and MSc in Occupational Psychology in the UK.[6] After her studies, Katerina stayed "in the southern counties of the UK to enjoy a diverse career in Social Care and mental health services."[7]
Andreou returned to Cyprus in 2006. Unable to gain employment in mental health or social work in Cyprus, she worked several jobs in the field of human resource. In 2012, Andreou worked as a recruiter when the banks in Cyprus collapsed.[8] During this period she became involved as a volunteer with ‘One Woman at a time’ (OWAAT) which was designed as an online legal platform to empower women in a domestic abuse environment a platform for self help in accessing legal documents and courts and founded by Patricia Martin, a Fulbright scholar from the United States.[9]

In an effort to stay in Cyprus, Andreou opened HR Innovate in 2016, a human resource and recruiting agency in Nicosia, Cyprus.[11] At the same time as the launch of HR Innovate, Andreou also began running. The company's first office was paid for in exchange for services during post recession in Cyprus.[12] By 2021, HR Innovate had a total of 5 employees and Andreou served as the chief executive officer. At HR Innovate, Andreou has been called upon to advise family business and has been immersed in the information technology sector of Cyprus.[13][14]
